The most effective energy demand-reduction building design on the market today is referred to as the "Tri-Pod of High Performance Building Science Design." The Tri-Pod is composed of three pillars, which are:
- The first pillar is a mass wall building enclosure;
- The second pillar is energy recovery ventilation, and,
- The third pillar is alternative energy, in particular geothermal and solar.
This Session will explain the Tri-Pod in depth including diagrammatic explanations of the technology of this High Performance Design and the products used that are readily available on the market today to achieve dramatic energy demand reduction in new buildings of between 70% and 90% as compared to the energy consumed in conventionally designed and built buildings. |
